Andrew Nielsen

Andy’s practice spans labour, employment and professional regulation law.

Andy is a partner with Pink Larkin who works primarily in the areas of union-side labour law, professional regulation, and employment law. He provides comprehensive legal services to a number of public- and private-sector trade unions operating throughout Atlantic Canada. His labour practice includes representation of workers in the healthcare, government, and transportation sectors, with a focus on the marine industry.

Andy has appeared before the Supreme Courts and Courts of Appeal in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and practised before labour arbitrators and labour boards throughout the Atlantic Provinces.

In his professional regulation practice, Andy represents both professional bodies and individual professionals facing discipline.

Andy is particularly interested in issues related to technology and privacy. In this area, he has advised clients about such diverse issues as privacy obligations, forensic preservation and recovery of data and electronic records, and responses to search warrants and production orders.

He is a past President of the Canadian Bar Association’s Nova Scotia Labour and Employment Law Section, past Vice President for Nova Scotia of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, and a frequent speaker on issues related to labour and employment law and professional regulation.
