Occupational Health and Safety

As Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) lawyers, our role is to assist employers, employees, and trade unions in relation to regulatory OHS charges and prosecutions, as well as in helping to ensure compliance with the OHS laws and regulations. Our lawyers leverage their knowledge of labour and employment law and litigation to provide clients with comprehensive and strategic support in all workplace-related Occupational Health and Safety matters.

Our lawyers regularly counsel clients on the requirements related to provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation and the Canada Labour Code. We also support the development and implementation of safety and health programs and procedures, advise on requirements related to inspections and work refusals, and keep our clients up to date on OHS rules and regulations. In matters involving ongoing OHS investigations and allegations, we assist our clients through workplace investigations and provide representation to resolve OHS penalties.

When complaints or quasi-criminal charges arise from Occupational Health and Safety legislation that cannot be resolved, we represent employers, employees, and trade unions in matters involving accidents, inspections, grievances, and investigations at arbitrations, administrative tribunals, before regulatory bodies, and in courts across Atlantic Canada.

Occupational Health and Safety is an important component of a strong workplace. Our lawyers are dedicated to supporting our clients in resolving OHS complaints and implementing the policies and procedures needed to keep workplaces safe.
