Sarah Makson

With extensive experience in both law and insurance, Sarah offers a unique and holistic perspective that provides incredible value to construction litigation, insurance coverage, and tort liability clients. 

Sarah’s practice focuses on construction litigation, insurance coverage, and tort liability. A skilled problem solver, she is committed to helping clients resolve disputes practically and efficiently while mitigating risks. Before practising law, Sarah worked as a commercial insurance broker, where she developed a keen interest in liability insurance. She expanded her knowledge by earning the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP®) designation through the Insurance Institute of Canada. 

Sarah earned her law degree from the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University. She was called to the Alberta bar in 2012 and to the Nova Scotia bar in 2024 after returning home to the east coast following a successful legal career in western Canada. Her career highlights include achieving partnership at one of Canada’s largest law firms. 

An advocate for civil rights and social action, Sarah served as volunteer pro bono counsel for Pro Bono Law Alberta for over a decade. She remains committed to using the privilege of her experience to help those in need.
