Burnet

Jaime Burnet is a compassionate advocate. She brings an intersectional feminist lens to her legal practice, and aims to be trauma-informed in her work. Her practice focuses on labour, employment, professional regulation, and human rights law. She facilitates training sessions on preventing and responding to sexual and gender-based harassment in the workplace, and creating safe, inclusive workplaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

Jaime has appeared before labour arbitrators, labour standards adjudicators, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and a public commission of inquiry.

Jaime received her law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. Prior to attending law school, Jaime completed an M.A. in Women and Gender Studies & Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto. She is the former Chair of the Canadian Bar Association – Nova Scotia’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Community (SOGIC) section. In her spare time she writes fiction, plays music, and walks her dog in the woods.
