			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pink Larkin is pleased to announce the hiring of a new associate, Brenda Comeau, for our Fredericton office.  Brenda is originally from Moncton and holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University.  She completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa. Brenda currently practices under the Law Society of Upper Canada, and is awaiting her call to the New Brunswick bar this spring.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Prior to joining Pink Larkin, Brenda completed her articles at the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General and worked as a lawyer in Toronto.  Brenda has appeared before various courts and administrative tribunals in Ontario and has experience helping clients with employment law issues.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lawyers from Pink Larkin presented on pension and labour issues at Lancaster&#8217;s Halifax Labour Law Conference on November 15 and 16, 2011.</p>

<p>The annual conference was co-chaired by Gordon Forsyth, who also acted as moderator for a number of the panels.</p>

<p>Ron Pink spoke as part of a panel discussing the topic &#8220;Pension Plan Issues: Seeking solutions to the pension plan sustainability crisis and dealing with day-to-day problems.&#8221; The panelists, who also included arbitrator E. Thomas Christie and employer counsel Peter McLellan, discussed how demographic considerations affect the sustainability of pension plans, problems resulting from employer insolvencies, strategies to make up funding shortfalls, and ideas for pension reform.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>David Wallbridge presented on the social media panel, entitled &#8220;Social Networking and Privacy Concerns: Challenging scenarios in the wired workplace.&#8221; This is an evolving area that is of continuing interest to unions, employees and employers. The panel&#8217;s interactive discussion considered various factual scenarios to illustrate the implications of increasing social media use at the workplace.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>A number of other Pink Larkin lawyers attended the conference, taking advantage of the opportunity to visit with clients and colleagues.</p>

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, making him the third lawyer in the firm to hold this distinction.</p>

<p>Joel is a graduate of Acadia University and Dalhousie University Law. Mr. Pink appears regularly in all levels of Court with jurisdiction in the province. He has represented accused persons in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and often has a matter pending before the Supreme Court of Canada. For more than 30 years, Mr. Pink has lectured extensively and taught courses at Dalhousie Law School and St. Mary&#8217;s University. Mr. Pink has consistently maintained an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell. He has also authored texts for Carswell Legal Publishers in Canada.</p>
